Fragility

Life is quite fragile if you think about it. God blesses us with all these wonderful things - but He can take them away in an instant if He wishes, or allow for things to happen in our lives. He blesses us with friends and family, and that could be taken away. He blesses us with material things, and those can be taken away. He blesses us with health, and that could be taken away from us. All these things are not 'rights' we have to, but 'privileges' that the Lord has blessed us with. For the past while, from sermons and readings and conversations, you realize the abundance of His love and blessings, but also that we cannot hang onto these things so tightly in this world because all these things will come to pass, but the only thing that will remain is Him, Christ's love, grace and mercy and the Kingdom of Heaven. So while we are thankful for the things we have around us, and appreciate the beauty in it all, we need to remember that these are temporary, and He is permanent.

As I get 'older', I come across more people, friends and family who are suffering; from loss of loved ones, to those struck with ill health and terminal illnesses...and these times lead one to reflect more on life and why we're here...I continue to pray for those who have been affected by painful situations, that they would find comfort in the Lord.
