EMF (ElectroMagneticFields): Cell phone radiation and its effects on humans using it is controversial and in debate. It has been this way since the early 90's and if you recall, there was more media coverage of this in the late 90's with several lawsuits against cell phone companies. Much of it subsided since 2000 and it seems many people don't realize the potential dangers of using cell phones. I saw a documentary a while ago about this (confirming all my previous suspicions) and there was a lady who worked for a company where she had to use a cell phone everyday for several years. She used it on her right side. She was later diagnosed with a very rare (though now increasingly common) type of brain tumor; an external tumor that grows inward. The interesting part is that the tumor was in the shape of the antenna of the phone she used. My goodness. Research studies have also shown that the antenna emits most of the radiation - in fact, it's about a 6 inch radial circumference that the EMF encompasses; I guess ones without antennas just concentrate the radiation in the whole phone. I think North America is largely unaware of this problem or just puts a blind eye to it, while the UK seems to be more aware of this in general. Well, N.Am is more conservative in general, especially in the East Coast versus the West. And in places of the UK, Germany, France etc Complementary and Alternative medicine is considered more mainstream. So different. Anyway, only time will tell what will happen to the human population with wireless everything going around.
I used to have a Motorola V120 a few years ago. When I first used it, I didn't know about the radiation, and didn't have any headset so I put the phone to my ear and would talk like 2 hrs on it on my unlimited weekends. I started getting headaches frequently on the side I'd used it on and I rarely get headaches. It was odd. I figured it out and bought a headset right away and used my phone less, and my headaches pretty much stopped. My grandma used her cell phone everyday for 5-6 hrs to chat in HK because it's cheaper to talk Long-D on a cell phone than a regular land line (I didn't know until after), and she had a big tumor on the right side of her head, behind her ear.
Now I use speakerphone or an AIRWAVE headset that employs an air tube that goes to the ear rather than a wire which will reduce most if not all of EMF radiation to my ear/head. There are believers and there are skeptics (which I've noticed are especially those who work for cell phone companies). I'd rather play it on the safe side.
I hope more and more people realize the potential dangers - which have been proven, but not publicly presented maybe because it's a big blow to the huge multi-billion dollar cell phone industry just like smoking and lung cancer which took forever and many battles before at least warning labels were put on packages. At least put warnings on phones, give people safety options and let people choose if they want to be harmed or if they want to be protected.
