rainy waters
The abundance of rain waters falling down to the Vancouver area has created a mini-scare here. Because there's been so much rainfall over the past week, the turbidity levels (of sedement, potential bacteria/virus/fungi/parasites) have greatly increased in the water reservoirs of LM BC. Most of the week, we have been on a water advisory/warning - Do NOT use tap water for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, washing dishes etc. This is to prevent potential GE (gastroenteritis - inflammation/infection of the gastrointestinal tract which may cause diarrhea, stomach cramps/aches, vomiting etc). The advisory was/is to boil water for a minimum of 1 minute or use bottled water. Boiling water will kill the potential bugs, but it doesn't help to clear the cloudiness of the water. I wouldn't drink it. And any one who is immunocompromised is more at risk.
So...Obviously, the sales of bottled water has skyrocketed (great business for them), it's nuts; I'm sure these bottled water companies are just laughing at the rise in sales. People rushing to stores, fighting for and loading up on bottled water. I think pretty much every store in Vancouver sold out of bottled water for the past few days. It's a clearer day with no rain today, so hopefully, things will settle down soon and everything will be back to 'normal'.
