"Grave of the Fireflies" vs "Pearl Harbour": the movies...

Well, I must say that one of the saddest movies I've ever watched is "Grave of the Fireflies". It is a Japanese movie (that I watched with Chinese subtitles) based at the time or WWII. It follows the life of 2 children (an older brother and his little sister) and his family intertwined with another family during the Japanese-American war from the Japanese perspective; the struggles, the need for survival, for food and shelter, running, hiding, and death while Americans hit Japan. Needless to say, it was very sad. The acting in the movie was AMAZING...I was so drawn into the lives of the people in the movie, especially the children. I balled my eyes out throughout the movie.

It was also very intersting to watch this movie just soon after I had watched the hollywood version of "Pearl Harbour" which told the other side of the war with Americans being hit by the Japanese. Both sides had so many innocent people dying...for what? does anyone really ever win when it comes to war? or fighting or arguments?

I cried a bit with watching "Pearl Harbour" but watchine the stories told in "Grave of the Fireflies" really hit the heart. If you get a chance, watch the Japanese movie, probably available at an Asian/Chinese movie retailer.
