Past OR Present??
Often times, people reminisce about the 'good ol days', 'when I was younger', and being 'worry-free'...I've had conversations with people where we talk about those childhood days and University days and how great they were. Many people at my age (in their mid to late 20's) are moving on in life. Starting and building their careers, moving, buying condos/houses, buying cars, getting married and some starting families. The responsibilities are ever-growing. I remember being in school. Yes, when I look back those days had their share of fun worry-free days...but worry-free was in terms of 'life' things. The days of being in school are basically the days of being sheltered, surrounded by like-minded individuals where more 'adult' things and business and survival are not so much a big deal.
When you come out, you realize there's much more out there, and if you don't stand strong, you could be eaten alive. I don't wish I was back at school studying again, staying up late and cramming for exams and stressing myself out that way, but I did enjoy my times there and the people I met and the friends I made. I really think that friendships made from school are one of the best. Right now, I'm in transition from being a 'kid' and being an 'adult'. I'm finished school and a working professional now. But I still live at home with my parents. I don't have a mortgage on a home, don't own a car from my own earning; basically, I don't have too heavy a financial burden at this point. But I do know it's coming. One day, I will grow up fully, and I will have all these things to 'worry' about. All these adult responsibilities.
Isn't it funny: When you're a kid, you wanna be a grown up and look and act older, but when you grow up you wanna be a kid again (like go to ToysRUs, DisneyLand or sth like that) and look younger and keep that youth.
Remember that song from ToysRUs? 'I don't wanna grow up, I'm a ToysRUs Kid'...dahdeedah...? I wonder if that goes through people's heads? it's exciting to do all these grown up things but is there a part of people that just doesn't wanna grow up, even though they must? It's an inevitable fact of life.
