Mariah Concert...'cuz you'll always be my baby...
Yup, I went to see MC/Mimi - Mariah Carey - in concert on Saturday. I've always enjoyed her music and her voice (and the range of it). The concert started at 8pm with Bustarhymes opening. Heavy rap...good beats, but not really what I like. They were funny tho. There was an 'intermission' DJ every so often who would get the crowd riled up, standing and clapping and dancing to old late 80's and 90's beats, for all us late 20s-30s crowd who would've listened to that music and Mariah while growing up through our high school years. Then, 9pm, Mariah entered the stage and the >15000 ppl there were screaming their heads off...me partially included. I can't remember which song she opened with, but my favourites of the night were 'I'll be there' and 'Hero', which she sang with Troy L-something (forget his name?). She also sang 'Honey', 'Always be my baby', 'We belong together', 'One sweet day', 'Thank God I found you', and more. Amazing performances overall! Her voice live is unbelievable and sounds just like her CDs with variations to the melody/harmony. Wow! I've haven't been to many concerts in my life thus far, so this was a nice experience - a 'poppy' concert (but not quite Brittney Spears); many of the girls there were dressed like they were going clubbing or something with low-low cut fronts and short short shorts/skirts, and long lash makeup, which actually mirrored Mariah's image, I guess. I just went from work, with my black suit pants and a nice top - so 'conservative'...and I just felt 'old' and so serious there :P haha...but all in all, it was great and the music/singing was awesome!
