Kickboxing and the Next Day

I went to a Cardio Kickboxing class on Monday. It's a muay thai style incorporated into a cardio workout. This place is a school that teaches martial arts in a traditional style of muay thai. I've done martial arts throughout grade school to high school and took kickboxing back in 4th year at Mac for a year and became more 'fit' from it. It's been a while since then (6 yrs), and I have moderate exercise levels now consisting of jogging, swimming and occasional pilates, rollerblading and dance classes. This cardio kickboxing class was intense. Crazy intense 1 hr of kicking, punching, sittups, pushups etc. I got through the class ok with lots of sweating and felt good after the workout. It really hit me the next day...just like snowboarding and the falls hit me...the next day...I was SORE...so sore yesterday...mostly legs. My calf muscles are the worst. 2 days later (today), the lactic acid build up is even more and even walking is slightly strained :( I'm so out of shape in that form of intensity. I can see that if I continued this at 2-3 times per week, I'd be fit and not feel like this. I would consider signing up for the program/classes, but the schedule doesn't work with mine with classes mostly starting when I'm still working...and the cost is high, at $900/yr (or $500 for 6 mo). I can't believe my parents put me and my 3 siblings through about 7-8 yrs of martial arts when we were younger. Not cheap at all.

On a brighter note, the HSBC Celebration of Lights starts tonight with Italy showcasing their fireworks. There's a total of 4 nights over 2 weeks (Wed, Sat, Wed, Sat). I'm hoping that I'll be able to see all the fireworks from my place that looks out into the harbour.
