Is life meaningless?

-pain, suffering, hatred, violence, persecution, sickness, disillusionment, death; humans, the Fall, sin
-school, work, church; family, friends; learning, sharing, loving

...why, I ask? what's the purpose of everything in life when in the end it just seems like a farce?
-some people say 'live in the moment' and others 'live for eternity' but really, what's the point of all this?
-why...? Are we simply merely existing? why were we created? I just don't get it. To fellowship with God and people around us? It's a beautiful thing, but why? what's the purpose...is there a purpose? But what about those who don't know God and don't fellowship with Him and others...They work so hard and build families and continue on in life...for what purpose? Really, think about it...what's the purpose?? It all seems so meaningless.

Can this 'why' really ever be answered? I don't know.
Am I just asking something too ridiculous and I just need faith and hope to trust? why?
