Remember to take time to breathe; to appreciate all the beauty created by God around us; to be thankful for all the blessings; to love

We, here in North America, are so abundantly blessed with material things; almost too much perhaps, that these blessings become our hindrances, such that we have become a nation that is financially rich but spiritually poor. As I sat in my res room watching TV (yup, I brought my TV from home to TO), I watched a fuzzy Global station (channel TV) with World Vision on. The true stories of lives far away really touched me. They are so financially poor, it's so hard to fathom. So hard. Yet, when they experience God, they are way more spiritually rich, holding onto a faith that He will carry them through.

I remember when I went to China a few years ago, I saw a similar thing - people with very little live happy lives, content with what they have and then I had this guilt of all the material things that I have, and how many times, I just want more, and go after these things; these things which are foolish things because they do not last. And then I returned to Canada, and things went back to 'normal' again. I continued my studies with hopes to one day have a career and be financially stable...not just that, in the mean time, I enjoy buying things and often find myself spending more money than I ought to - when it could be used toward other more beneficial aspects of life.

While we enjoy our riches here, it is so easy to forget that there are other people suffering and in poverty in a land that is really not so far away.
